In a show of appreciation to the efforts and notable contributions of one of Nigeria’s finest talking drum drummers, the Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi has appointed the lady who talks through her drums, Aralola “Ära” Olamuyiwa an Ambassador of the Ife Kingdom.
An official letter was made available to the public confirmed this development.
Ara couldn’t hide her joy when she heard the news. She had this to say…
“With deepest appreciation to my lord, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi for appointing me the cultural ambassador of his kingdom. Words fail me and I cannot thank you enough sir. This is all the encouragement I need to remain steadfast and continue to promote our culture. I promise to make you even more proud, the entire Yoruba race and Nigeria. My heart is filled with so much joy and this is the highest honor ever. God bless you my king. Long may you live Arole Oodua. Official ceremony loading!”
Ara’s appointment as an Ambassador of the Ife Kingdom is coming hot on the heels of the events of Sunday May 22nd, 2016. The Ooni was on that day presented with a distinguished extraordinary Ambassador of Peace Award by the Methodist Church of Nigeria.
Others who also received the awards includes the Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as well as former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo who received the Heroic Leadership Award.
In his word of thanks, the Oba had this to say…
“Yoruba people and black nation are blessed with the array of traditional rulers in Yoruba land because there is now an existing love and unity in our midst. God loves Yoruba nation and that is why I will always appreciate God for the lasting peace he has brought to Yoruba land. I can assure all nations of the world that we shall live up to the expectations of the award given unto us today to make sure Yoruba land doesn’t disintegrate.”
