11 Simple Fashion Tips For Tall Men

You surely don’t need a soothsayer to tell you that dressing properly is an essential part of every person’s life, do you?

Dressing well is important as it enhances the image of any one, ladies and gentlemen inclusive. For tall men, shopping can often become the most stressful part of their lives especially when they’ve got absolutely no clue as to what they should pick.

tailor made simple fashion tips

The three basic elements of a good outfit include style, structure, and fitting. An accurate combination of two below is okay, but how about three of them?

This simple fashion blog post includes real but simple fashion tips for tall men and guys.

  1. Opt for dark colors: When choosing the colors of suits or sneakers, you should give preference to dark colors. They make you cool and not too shouting considering the fact that you’re outstanding. Colors like black, brown or gray work perfectly.
  2. Wear lightweight materials: Cotton fabrics can come in handy if you’re beyond average in height. They don’t add more weight to your height or make you look bigger than how you really are.
  3. Find brands that cater for your body type: There are clothing brands that are notable for including tall men in their grand scheme of things. Levi’s and Footaction get my thumbs up cos they consider tall dudes in their designs.
  4. Wear a well-structured dress: If you think your clothes from brands don’t fit you perfectly as you’d like, get custom made dress shirts but you should stay away from double pleated pants. There’s every reason to know your tailor. Avoid wearing baggy clothes.
  5. Wear less pronounced denims: Wear denims that are kind of monochrome. You know, the ones that have threads which match the color of the denim. Let your jean have minimal details. Avoid wearing low-slung jeans.
  6. Wear pants that fit. If your pants don’t fit you perfectly, then chances are that they are too big for you. For some, if you’re comfortable wearing pants that hug your legs, then you’re good to go.
  7. Print it correctly: When you rock prints, make sure they’re slim stripes that aren’t too wide yet not pronounced. One thing you should note however is that if you see someone whose stripes/prints make you wow, you should create your own version of it.
  8. What’s your watch size? It’s imperative that you get watches that complemented your wrists because you have larger wrists than the average man. This is arguably the most important of these simple fashion tips.
  9. Tie it wide: Don’t ever wear the slim ties. Make sure your ties are neatly tied wide. Don’t fold the ties for storage, rather hang them.
  10. Wear jackets: What better way to show off that broad chest of yours than wearing a jacket? But hey, never wear shoulder-padded blazers, padded jackets, and short jackets.
  11. Wear T-shirts and Polo Necks: Wear T-shirts and polo necks that complement your height.

One important thing to note is this…

Whilst considering these style tips, it’s advisable to wear what suits you best.

There you go… Looking good is good, isn’t it?

Alluring Dashiki Designs You’ll Love (Updated)

dashiki design

Dashiki Design 101

The dashiki is originally an African print dress that was made popular by Walter Eugene King (Oba Efurotola Oseijeman Adebalu Adefunmi).

Oba toured the world of the Yorubas in different parts of the world especially in Cuba from where he got the name. After his sojourn, he returned to the US where he set up a small scale business which focused solely on producing African print dresses. This I believe was borne out of the need to make high quality materials while preserving the original natural African designs.

The word dashiki is actually an Hausa word “yar ciki” meaning cap. In Ghana, the dashiki African dress is referred to as Angelina. Quite a name I must Congress! The dashiki was made popular in Nigeria recently after top Nigerian artiste WizKid adorned the attire in the music video for his club banger “show out the money”.

That’s the end of our introduction to dashiki!

There are quite a few dashiki styles that I’m yet to see ladies adorn. The dashiki is much more popular among males than females. Below, I’ve handpicked 9 designs every one should have in their closet.

1. The dashiki gown. This design is very unpopular among the ladies, but its very chic, classic and much more awesome than what our celebrities wear whilst showing off two “non-confident” twins on their chest. The design in this picture is great, but you can also try the white and black or pink and white designs. A classic clutch bag will definitely turn heads to your direction as you step into the arena.

2. The dashiki print gown! This dashiki design is pretty simple. Flays can be added to the material to accentuate the designs. Its perfect for church or or dates with him. *winks.. You know what I mean!

3. The dashiki pencil skirt! Y’all need to see this dashiki design! This skirt is a must have for ladies. It comes in various colors, each with a unique design. I particularly like the white on black design. Its really chic and classy and fits any kind of blazer you wear with it.

It’s not everyday that you see your favorite celebrity rocking that awesome dashiki design. I’ve put together an image gallery of celebrities all over the world who have worn the dashiki. A special shout out goes to ace Nigerian singer artiste Wizkid. I bet he was one of the first celebrities to wear the dashiki. He is really a great guy with a good fashion sense that makes designs trend whenever he adorns any.

4 Must Have Fashion Items For Every Nigerian Man!!!

Like the saying goes, swag is for men,  class is for boys. A man’s appearance is defined by his combination of fashion items and proper use of colors.

Every Nigerian man needs to have a handful of fashion items and accessories including the following…

1. Wrist Watch! Aside from its effective use for keeping to appointments, every man needs a wrist watch. There are many different models in the market. For those who aren’t comfortable with shaking their hands when the want to look at their watch, you’d better get a wrist watch with a leather strap. I’ll suggest Omega, Swatch, Quartz and Rolex. There are other premium brands too.

2. Perfumes! Popular Nigerian rapper Phyno told everyone who listened to his song that he now uses Tom Ford perfumes. That shows class. Tom Ford perfumes are pretty good. But you can still get other perfumes for yourself. For the students who do not have so much money to spare on perfumes, you can get Emergency or Cuba.

3. Formal and Casual Shirts! Owing to the current economic situation in Nigeria, me. Will always complain of being tight on funds with regards to purchasing shirts and trousers. But here’s one tip. You can have just about 5 trouser pairs and lots of shirts… Say about 20. No one will even notice you are wearing the same trouser over and over again. Shirts come in different colors. It’s advisable to buy your shirts according to the color of trouser you have. Yellow and white aren’t a good match. I’d suggest black and white, or blue and white.

4. A collection of foot wears. Wearing one shoe or slipper all the time can be very annoying. It could spoil anytime without prior notice. Every man should have a footwear collection comprising of a mixture of shoes, sandals and stylish leather slippers. One more thing! It’s pertinent to take into consideration the color of your clothes when you buy these must have fashion items. More so, you should spend with caution and don’t just buy any fashion item because it looks good on someone. Buy it because it suits your style and puts you in an exquisite class.
